Substituting Silver for Tellurium in Selenium–Tellurium Thin Films for Improving the Optical Characteristics

Abstract The effect of Ag content on the linear and nonlinear optical characteristics thermal evaporated Se 90− x Te 10 thin films, 100 nm thick, (where = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 at.%) has been examined. measurements were reviewed in wavelength range 390–2500 based transmittance reflectance data, amorphous state as-prepared film was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. absorption coefficient, extinction bandgap, density, conductivity, dissipation factor, other properties examined discussed. For all samples, coefficient 90−x declines as concentration rise, whereas increases linearly with incident photon energy. Furthermore, bandgap width localized states alter exact opposite direction, which is consistent previously reported findings. decrease band gap could be attributable to an increase amount disorder materials density defect states. Other critical optoelectronic are also determined, they found influenced ratio wavelength. These may ideal for memory applications due their high compositional dependence absorption.

OPTICAL ABSORPTION IN Ce0 -V 0 EVAPORATE THIN FILMS
In this work, the optical absorption near the fundamental absorption edge of co-evaporated Ce0 -V20 films is studied. It is found that the fundamental optical absorption in these materials is sharp more like that expected for crystals.
